This year’s Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition marked a defining moment for Mellori Solutions, its sister company Global Defence Solutions (GDS), and the wider Australian defence industry.
At the Investment NSW Stand, Mellori Solutions unveiled Blue Jay Horizon — the newest addition to the Blue Jay family of electromagnetic warfare (EW) Test & Evaluation assurance systems. The launch represents a major step forward in how defence forces can test, train, and assure their electromagnetic systems under realistic conditions.
A New Horizon for EW Assurance
Blue Jay Horizon is a containerised, marinised electromagnetic warfare (EW) test and evaluation system designed and built in regional New South Wales by a team of veterans, EW specialists, and engineers.
The system delivers through-air electromagnetic stimulation of radar and communication receivers, allowing crews to test and train in complex, realistic EM environments — across land, sea, and air domains. Housed in a ruggedised 10-foot ISO container, Blue Jay Horizon is fully operable up to Sea State 4 and stowable to Sea State 6, offering true maritime flexibility.
Its software-defined RF architecture and gyro-stabilised antenna system ensure accurate, repeatable testing even in challenging conditions — giving operators confidence in their sensors before deployment.
As Mellori Solutions’ Managing Director Phil Guy said during the launch:
